You’re Missing The Point!

I was reading today in John 6 and Jesus is talking to the people and He tells him that He is the bread of life and that whoever comes to Him will never be hungry or thirsty and those who come to Him will never be rejected. He tells them He came down from Heaven to do the will of God which is that He should not lose even one that has been given to Him but that He would raise them up to have eternal life!

But the people MISSED THE POINT!  They were so focused on negative that the only thing they heard was, “I am the bread that came down from Heaven” and they got jealous and had the “how can he be any better than us?” attitude.  “Who does he think he is? This is what it says in verses 41 and 42, Then the people began to murmur in disagreement because he had said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.”  They said, “Isn’t this Jesus, the son of Joseph? We know his father and mother. How can he say, ‘I came down from heaven’?”

Jesus JUST said in verse 40, “For it is my Father’s will that all who see his Son and believe in Him should have eternal life”!  And they’re worried about Him being better than them? Are you serious??  He has a gift for you….despite who YOU are!

This would be like me getting up in front of all the people at my class reunion and saying, “I have inherited 100 million dollars from my dad and he gave it to me so that I could distribute it to all of you who come to me and ask so that you can have ALL of your needs taken care of.”

And instead of them saying, “Sweet!  Thank you! I accept!” They begin rolling their eyes and complaining to each other….“Who does she think she is? Isn’t that the girl who grew up down the block from us in Del City who’s dad was a boiler maker?”  They’d be missing the point!  There is a blessing to be seen here and you want to make something negative out of it?

How often do we miss it?  It’s raining and we say….“That just messed up our ball game”.  What about the beautiful shade tree that just got watered or the fruits and vegetables that (contrary to millennial’s beliefs)….do not just appear in the grocery stores!  Some farmer out there somewhere…needs that rain to bring you what you desire without YOU having to even labor for it.

How often are we so focused on everything negative in this world…or even what we portray to be negative that we completely miss ALL THE BLESSINGS of life??  How many unsaved people are out there missing the boat because they’re so full of pride that as soon as a believer speaks to them their first thought is, “Oh so you think you’re better than me?”

And as believers….are we missing it because we see so much negative that we have a hard time recognizing the goodness of God and the image of God even in those unbelievers?

Folks…..put those eclipse glasses back on.  The ones that made it possible for you to look at the sun!  You made a purchase…an effort…even took a risk to look at the light.  It was a breathtaking event!  Every day could be like that!  Don’t miss the point in this life…find the beauty in it, find the positives, seek them out, go against the norm and discover all the blessings that God has in store for you!

Self-Made Success And Proud Of It!

One day a boy and his dad were building a tree house together. The boy was trying to carry the heavy wooden planks but he kept dropping them.  His dad offered to help and his son replied, “No dad, I got it!” He struggled and struggled until finally asking, “Dad…can you grab a couple of these?”  His dad smiled and helped.  They began working (his dad teaching him how to safely use the saw) and they built a beautiful tree house together! However, the ladder was built too high up on the tree.  The boy jumped as high as he could and yet he couldn’t reach it.  Finally the boy asked…”Dad, can you lift me up?”  The dad replied, “Of course, and while you’re up there how about I add another step to the ladder?”

A couple weeks went by and they were playing at the beach together. The boy was building a sand castle, but with every attempt he made, the castle continued to fall. He tried and tried to do it all by himself but finally had to ask his daddy for help. Dad showed him how to add a little more water and put a little more force behind it and they built the best castle on the beach that day!

Years went by and this determined young man continued to try and do everything without the help of his father.  His dad was always there and willing to help but gave his boy the freedom to try things on his own.  The boy was growing more and more independent as the years went by and with every self-made accomplishment, he grew further and further away from the close relationship he and his dad once had.

The boy grew up to be an owner of a large construction company.  He was very proud of his accomplishments and asked his dad to come visit a building they were in the process of constructing.  As the dad and his son were walking through the construction site, a crane operator accidently released a giant beam from above that came crashing down on top of his son.  He was trapped and the dad was unable to reach him.  Still a determined and stubborn young man, he believed he had enough strength on his own to push the beam off of him.  His dad was standing along the side yelling, “Give me your hand! I can pull you out!”  His son, replied, “I got this dad!”  Yet with every effort the boy made…his dad could hear his son’s breath getting less and less. The dad stood there helpless, panicking and full of fear he cried out, “Son!  Reach out your hand!”  The boy pushed out enough breath to say, “I made it this far without you.”  The dad was now crushed…he dropped to his knees, tears rolling down his face and with one last attempt said, “Son, I can’t help, if you won’t let me!”

Bones could now be heard cracking. Severe pain and immense pressure now leaving the boy almost breathless he flashed back to his dad teaching him how to build a tree house, how to make a sand castle that would stand, and many other moments that actually formed him into the man he was.  His pride now stricken from him, he gained enough strength to reach his hand out from under the beam.  His dad’s eyes opened wide and without hesitation pulled his son out into the safety of his arms!

Matthew 16:25 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.

Psalm 57:2 I cry out to God Most High, to God who will fulfill His purpose for me.

Our Heavenly Father has created you and molded you for a purpose but He will never force His will upon you, yet He will always be there to help you when you allow Him too!  Don’t ever forget the One who placed your gifts and talents inside of you.

“The World Is Like A Hologram”

I received this word from the Lord on July 2nd after asking Him what He wanted me to share with the children at our church that morning. I felt led to share it with our congregation as well and a couple people asked for a copy of it so I’m going to share it here. I found it interesting that today on Klove they were talking about how in 10 years, televisions would be obsolete and replaced with holographic glasses instead.
Here’s the word.
“I want them to know the truth. The truth is I set them free! They are Mine but they have a choice to be accepted by Me or not. If they choose to be Mine they get to experience on Earth everything that I have stored up for them in Heaven. All the treasures are theirs! A life worth living is only lived as My child! The world and all its “amazement and wonder” has nothing to offer you. It’s like a hologram, you see it and you want it and it looks so awesome then when you finally get to it it’s fake and empty. Please Don’t Run Away chasing things that were never made for you. Matter of fact, they were designed to hurt you and lead you away from Me. Taste and see that what I have for you is good!”

What’s On The Menu?

Don’t shelter your kids.  If you do, they won’t know what hits them when they go out into the “real world.” They need to experience life. Let them be exposed to what’s out there.  I grew up in church then went crazy in the world, but I came back to church and got on the right path…they’ll be fine.

As homeschool parents who keep our kids with us as much as humanly possible and tries to preserve their innocence as much as we can WHILE we can.  I hear those things mentioned above and I cringe!  I’m sure most of those words even came out of my OWN MOUTH a few years back. Because this is how our oldest daughter was raised.  Praise God my perspective has changed and praise God she didn’t stray TOO FAR off the path and she is married and serving as a leader with her husband in our church.  Yes, it can work out that way….but she didn’t have to experience the things she did.

Now we’re raising her 2 younger siblings and we’re following some GOOD advice! I heard these two statements that really touched my heart and I’ve been wanting to share them.

“I have 18 years to instill everything I can into my children before they go out on their own. In a world that is trying to corrupt them with lies and temptations, it is OUR JOB to shield them, to hide them in a safe environment and to BE THE FILTER through which they learn things. We’re here to give them roots. Like a seedling in a greenhouse, we’re not keeping them from the inevitable; we’re PREPARING THEM to thrive!”Jentezen Franklin

“I want to establish their appetite BEFORE they are handed the menu.” – Gregg Johnson – founder of J12 ministries.

I absolutely love their perspective on parenting and it’s biblical!

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. – Proverbs 22:6

Taste and see that the LORD is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in Him!Psalm 34:8

Instill truth, purity, love, honesty, patience, joy, kindness and forgiveness through the word of God and your kids will be prepared for anything the world wants to throw at them.  They won’t be caught off guard and have the desire to experience “something new”.  They will be appalled by it and shine a light will be so bright – darkness won’t stand a chance!

Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” John 18:12

Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.Psalm 119:105

Lord, help me to raise my children by Your Word giving them the desire to know You themselves and establish their own relationship with You. Holy Spirit show me who my children were created to be! In Jesus’ name, I pray….AMEN!

Don’t Give the Enemy the Time Of Day!

My dad finished his last radiation treatment today! I’m so happy for him as well as extremely proud. When the doctor diagnosed him with cancer, he took the news like the champion he is! First thing he said is, “I know who my Healer is.”  He may have had an attack on his body, but he did not allow it to steal the peace and joy that God has placed in him. I think that’s HUGE!

He’s been having these treatments for 9 weeks now and when I shared that it was over today many people including a lot of family were surprised because they hadn’t heard anything about it.  So I wanted to kind of explain why that is.

When the enemy attacks whether it be with sickness, poverty, or maybe even from our own mistakes, we don’t see the need to shout it from the rooftops.  Why give the enemy that kind of glory?  Why give the devil a foothold by announcing the damage he is trying to cause, just to allow others to give their input into why this might be happening? (Lessons from Job, maybe??)

When the enemy attacks us physically, mentally, or emotionally we lean on our Lord for guidance and we confide in those closest to us for prayer and support.  In this case with my dad, he told his kids, his girlfriend and his siblings.  He felt that was enough and so did we.

Too many people throw all of their garbage out there for all to see and Satan just has a hey day with that.  What I want to announce to the world are the VICTORIES!  The fact that my dad went through 9 weeks of radiation and the only people who knew were those directly involved is a victory!  That tells me that my dad NEVER lost his peace!  This is not to bring condemnation to anyone who has went through this and struggled. I’m sure it’s not an easy thing to have to go through at all.

I mean this to be an encouragement to anyone going through something or who may go through something in the future.  Don’t give the devil even a pinky toe into your life.  Stand on God’s word that He will NEVER leave you, He will FIGHT for you and you WILL overcome!  Not everyone is going to be in agreement with you on this so take heed to what you proclaim and the influences and voices you allow to come into your life and your situation.

Psalm 8
1 O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!
Your glory is higher than the heavens.
2 You have taught children and infants
to tell of your strength, silencing your enemies
and all who oppose you.
3 When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—
the moon and the stars you set in place—
4 what are mere mortals that you should think about them,
human beings that you should care for them?
5 Yet you made them only a little lower than God
and crowned them with glory and honor.
6 You gave them charge of everything you made,
putting all things under their authority(this includes cancer)
7 the flocks and the herds
and all the wild animals,
8 the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea,
and everything that swims the ocean currents.
9 O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!

If You Can’t Run With The Big Dogs….Let The Big Dog In You Come Out!

All I can be….is me and that’s what God wants.  Matter of fact, He said so. One day He said to me, “My eyes….make them shine.  My hands…make them glow.  You are my light…just BE IT!  You don’t have to DO, you have to BE.  A football just has to be a football and when it is thrown into the game, it serves it’s purpose just by being a football.  Grass is just grass.  It doesn’t try to DO anything, it just IS and it serves it’s purpose.  Just be, Angela. Stop trying to DO and just BE.  You are enough.  I made You in my image.”

That was a few days ago then today I was watching my tiny Dachshund (Charlie) running around the backyard with my huge Pyrenees/Border Collie (Sparky) and I hear God say, “My Word is enough and You are enough. Again, Ang – just BE.  Be You – no one else.”.  And God starts showing me how Charlie likes to walk around and show people that he is a really big dog in a little body. I hear the Holy Spirit say, “You have a big God in your little body, Charlie isn’t walking around trying to make you THINK he’s a big dog.  He’s just being him and he KNOWS that IN him is the same courage and strength as Sparky so he fears nothing!  Walk tall with your head high believing that all the strength and courage You need is IN you…because I am in YOU!”

So here’s my conclusion….I’m done wondering what I need to be doing. I’m just going to focus on being me and I KNOW that God will fulfill His purpose through me like that.  He made me ME for a reason.  I don’t have to figure it all out, I just have to know who I am and Be it!  I am a child of God made in His image and I am absolutely loved and adored by Him! That’s good enough for me!

But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. – John 1:12

Behind Closed Doors

Is there really such thing as “Behind Closed Doors”?  I believe so many people think they are living a life there. A place we are able to do things that noone knows about…or will ever know about. Or maybe you are the victim of things done or said to you “behind closed doors”.

I was praying the other day and just asked the Lord what He wanted to say.  This is what I believe I heard so I just began writing, “I’m watching, I’m aware!  Things don’t happen behind closed doors.  The innocent will conquer. I don’t like to see my people suffer.  It was never part of my plan.  It hurts me, but I am no longer out for vengeance on the ones who are making people suffer.  I am out to love them, I need to show them my unconditional, undeserving love – through my people.  The captive can win the soul of the one who captured them.  That’s what I need my people to know.  Love, not war is a real thing.  If my people would show compassion on the lost and hurting people (who THINK they have to hurt others to feel good) there would be less lost and hurting people who are hurting others.  Yet instead, my people want revenge and they want to use ME to get it. NO! I want restoration. I want restored souls.  I want all my children to come to me and be accepted into my arms again.”

Then the verse I heard was 1 John 1:5.  I had to look it up to see what it says.  Wow! 1 John 1:5 “This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all.”

God sees what is going on behind closed doors and He needs US to shine His light in those dark places, not pray for His wrath on the people living there.  Don’t be a Jonah.  Begin to pray for those who have hurt you, begin to love those you believe are unlovable.  Show compassion to those who have not heard the truth and are being deceived by our real enemy, the devil.

Ever received a smile just by giving one?  Try it on the street…it works!

Are You In A Relationship?

Are you in a relationship and if so…is it a good relationship or a bad one? What makes it good?  What makes it bad?  I’ve not done a poll….but my uneducated guess would be one answer for both.  Communication.  Either the communication is healthy, two sided, and open….resulting in a good relationship, or there is a lack of communication. It’s one sided and closed minded which most likely results in a bad relationship.

This morning as I was working on a very important relationship (the one I have with my Heavenly Father), He showed me something that I pray I never forget. He had me think about our night time devotions with the kids.  I love these moments with them when Daddy reads from the Bible or a devotional book and they consistently interrupt him with their questions, thoughts, or ideas (usually….but not always…pertaining to the subject).

So as I’m pondering on this time, here is what the Lord speaks to my heart, He says, “You know how much you love when your kids get into a deep conversation with you?  How you talk to them about something and they give their ideas on what they think about it?  Even if it’s way off, you love to hear what they have to say – what they’re thinking.  You don’t shut them down if it’s wrong, you gently speak the truth, encouraging them to keep talking.  Or when they do get it right – you give them praise and adoration and you’re so thankful that they’ve been paying attention.  You don’t put the blame on them for not knowing the truth either.  You realize they haven’t either been taught the truth or maybe just haven’t grabbed hold of the revelation of it.  So you hope for more opportunities to have these conversations with them.  That’s what I want.  I want more opportunities to talk with you, to share the truth, to help you to have a greater revelation of My love, Who I am and what I have planned for your life.”

I am so thankful that God WANTS to be in a relationship with ME!  He wants to be in a relationship with YOU too!!  Communication with Him is the key.  Get to know Him.  Yes, He already knows everything about you, but He still desires for You to share what’s in your heart with Him.

I never get tired of hearing my kids say, “I love you” or when they say, “Do you remember when……”. Even if they have reminded me of it a thousand times….they are still reminiscing on good times we had together and want me to know that’s what’s in their heart. God never gets tired of hearing from us either.

And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. 15 And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.1 John 5:14-15

Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. – Ephesians 3:17

What The World Needs To Know

The world is messed up.  It’s full of greed, hatred, lies, and deception. It’s overflowing with pride and love of self.

But guess what? God STILL loves the world.  He’s calling all men toward Him….He longs for a relationship with us.  He desires to set us free from ourselves and the messes we make, the pains we cause, and the hurt we suffer.  He has given us the cure…but people just aren’t accepting it….or haven’t heard about it.

His love….His gift of Jesus….He wants the world to receive it.  He’s not holding back because of any wrong doing…He is desperately pursuing the lost and He’s using His body – the church – to reach them.

Are you lost in the world needing to be found?  Or are you part of the church who needs to be seeking those lost?  You’re either one or the other.

There is a hurting, dying world out there, condemned by their own thoughts of guilt, shame, and unbelief.  They HAVE to be told that there is a God Who loves them unconditionally…Who has forgiven them entirely…and Who is seeking them diligently.

If you have received this gift of freedom and you know what it’s like to be unconditionally loved and pursued…are you sharing this with others?  Are you reaching out to the people who are so lost in their own guilt and shame that they don’t even realize how much they are hurting themselves or others?

What the world needs to know is that there is a God who has a loving body with arms and hands reaching out to rescue (not condemn) those who are lost.  A body with legs and feet willing to go to the furthest darkest edges of the earth to bring them into His family.  A mouth willing to shout from the rooftops the TRUTH of Jesus Christ….the absolute love that God has for ALL!

Are you part of that body?  Which part are you?  Not sure yet?  Ask our Father and then BE that part.  There is a world waiting to hear this Good News and YOU can be the one to deliver it!

And the church is His body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with Himself. – Ephesians 1:23

For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.” – Luke 19:10

But if I say I’ll never mention the Lord or speak in His name, His word burns in my heart like a fire. It’s like a fire in my bones! I am worn out trying to hold it in! I can’t do it! – Jeremiah 20:9

I believe we should all have this type of passion for God’s word in our heart.  Jeremiah felt this way because people didn’t like what he was having to say. We get to share GOOD NEWS!!  How much MORE on fire should our hearts be??

I Hate Being A Mom

Laundry piled up everywhere, dirty dishes overfilling the sink, Lego blocks poking perfectly in the center of my FOOT, kids fighting over whatever the other kid has….and those are the everyday things. Then there’s the back talking, the pouting when they don’t get their way, the uninterrupted phone conversation I’ve NEVER had….along with the unattended bathroom trip I’ve NEVER experienced. Cleaning the house with the kids home is like brushing my teeth while eating Oreos (ever heard that one?  Every mom can relate!)

Oh and when I get up early to have a little bit of quiet time, make my coffee….pull out my journal or blog….sit down and hear MOMMMMMMM!    (My 2 youngest seriously JUST walked in and said something to me as soon as I typed that…and my older child who is out of the home text me! Lol)

Anyway….where was I?  Oh yes…motherhood.  Did I mention that I’m a stay at home mom who homeschools?  Yeah….so this is ALL day EVERYday!  And in the midst of this chaos…can you believe I have never once said…”I Hate Being A Mom”.  Nope…never….those words have never uttered my lips or even my thoughts.  It was actually hard for me to write that title.

All the reasons one may think they hate about being a mom are some of the reasons why I LOVE Being a Mom.  Here’s why…

If I have laundry piled up….my kids have clothes on their backs!  If I have dirty dishes…my kids have food in their stomachs.  If I’m stepping on painful little plastic indestructible things…my kids have some nicely made toys to play with.  When my kids are fighting, back talking, or pouting…I get to take those opportunities and turn them into life lessons.

I would LOVE to be able to talk on the phone or go to the bathroom by myself…but that could mean my kids aren’t even around…and I wouldn’t want that.  If my house still looks messy even after I’ve cleaned it….at least I know it’s a happy home…a fun home…and a lived in home where my kids get to be kids.  Pressure is off to keep everything perfect.

And that sweet sound in the morning (my kids calling for me from the bedroom or my older daughter calling from her home) would be dearly missed if it went silent for any reason at all.

I’m thankful for being a mom.  I’m blessed to be counted worthy enough to raise my children up along side my husband in the way the Lord desires.  We get to pray for our kids and ask the Lord to show us the plans He has for them and then impart that into their lives. As a mom, I have the opportunity and privilege of directing them in the way they should go and encouraging them that they CAN do all that God has called them to do. I get to let them know that they have ALL that they will ever need because they have Christ in them, the Holy Spirit guiding them, and God who loves them so much He planned it out before they were even born.

And when he is old he will not depart from it.”Proverbs 22:6

What Happened To Truth?

There are so many lies out there now…it’s really hard to say what is true and what isn’t.  Who is telling the truth…who is lying and who thinks they are telling the truth but in actuality, is spreading lies?

Turn on the news….what do we get?  Truth…. or lies?  Who really knows? Turn on your favorite preacher….is everything he says true? How do we know for sure?

So where do we go for truth?  Do we shine light on the lies to reveal truth or does that just bring focus and attention to it?

Just throwing this out there…..but could it be that we go directly to the source? Not the source of the lie….but to the source of truth!

I have a Father, a Best Friend, and a Comforter who I know for a fact can only speak what is TRUE!  THEY are my source.  That’s where I want to go for the facts.  My heart is filled with so much peace when I go to Jesus and allow Him to show me truth.  God is faithful to His Word. When it’s from the Holy Spirit, it is always filled with love and joy.  It gives me peace, not confusion.  I am patient in knowing when to speak.  Kindness  and goodness flow from my lips in a gentle way. I am full of self control and my heart is full of compassion and unity not torment or strife.

You can always find lies if you’re looking for them.  You will always believe lies if your seeking them.  Lies have never set anyone free.

So what would happen if we are just searching for truth?  We will find it and we will believe it and we will be set free!

“Jesus said to the people who believed in Him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings.  And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”John 8:31-32

Is God Really Enough?

Romans 15:13
“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”

I asked God what He wanted to say today.  Here goes…..

“I am enough. I have all that you need. Just ask. You don’t mind when your kids ask for something to eat and I don’t mind when you ask me for ANYTHING. I want to give it to you.  More so, I want you to RECEIVE it. Stop feeling guilty for coming to me for things. If your child was in need or even in want of something, you wouldn’t want them coming to you as a beggar. You would want them to come before you confident that they CAN…JUST BECAUSE you love them. I LOVE YOU! I want only the best for you and I know what that is!”

Sometimes the only reason we’re not receiving is because we simply can’t accept what He has to offer.

A friend was telling me about her son wanting some really expensive shoes. The dad was ready to get them for him, but the mom (knowing how often she is replacing shoes) was having a hard time stomaching the fact of spending so much on something that would be torn up so quickly. Just as they had decided to buy him the shoes, he started feeling guilty and decided he didn’t want them to spend that amount of money on him. However…the parents were willing! They WANTED to bless their son with something he wanted. Because of the guilt…he ALMOST missed out on the blessing. We do that….A LOT!

Now will we ALWAYS get what we WANT when we ask?

We love when our kid ask the right questions at the right times, but sometimes they ask the right questions at the wrong times. Maybe they’re not old enough to understand the information they want to know.  Maybe they THINK they are ready yet they can’t process some things correctly and we as parents know this, so we withhold things out of love. We know though, that when they ARE ready…we will have THAT talk. Our kids will understand this IF they know we love them and want only what’s best for them. Psalm 84:11 For the Lord God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right. (What is right? Trusting in God…trusting that He is a good God!)

Can your kids trust you? Do you treat them with respect? Have you made yourself available to them for any questions or would they rather go to a friend or a parent’s friend to get answers? Are they going to be looking to have their “needs met” somewhere else? Here’s the thing….are our kids confident that we will take care of them no matter what? We would hope so, right?

That’s how we MUST be about Abba Father! I know that my Daddy God loves me and I can confidently go to Him and ask Him for things – for answers. I’m not scared of what He’s going to think about me asking. He doesn’t make me feel ashamed or condemned or unworthy. He is my Daddy and that’s why He adopted me – to take care of me and watch me grow into the woman He created me to be.

I think about my husband adopting my daughter. He WANTED to be her daddy and take care of her. She has always known she was CHOSEN by him and there has always been a special bond between them…..a daddy’s girl type of bond. She’s always been able to come to either of us for anything….the only time she didn’t was when she felt guilty about something. And even that was a plan of the enemy to bring distance between us. However….light always shined on the darkness and things would end up working out because God is so much greater!

Back to my Daddy God…He WANTS to see me happy and full of life. He knows what triggers that joy. He knows what I need to equip me for all the plans He has for me. He knows what will hinder my walk – what leads me off the path.  He guides me away from those things. He gently nudges me back on the right path if I don’t listen or wander off. He is a good daddy, a good father, a good teacher, a good friend, a loving God and He is my number one fan!  He is YOUR number one fan!

But those who won’t care for their relatives, especially those in their own household, have denied the true faith. Such people are worse than unbelievers. – 1 Timothy 5:8 (God WILL take care of His children – His family – or His word says He would be worse than an unbeliever!)

Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our ENJOYMENT. – 1 Timothy 6:17

Who doesn’t just want to be happy?  Seems fair enough, right?  I personally believe that happiness, joy and peace are a CHOICE!  And it’s a choice that WE get to make!

We can’t depend on others for our happiness, our joy, or our peace. When we depend on or rely on others to fulfill this in us, we are placing a burden on them that they were NOT meant to carry. This includes our spouses, our children, our parents, our employers and even our pastors.

This also goes the other way around. It is not OUR job, duty, or responsibility to bring peace, joy, or happiness to anyone else.  So go ahead and take that load off….it’s not yours to carry.

Someone else already carried our burdens and everyone else’s. His name is Jesus and when we believe what He did and draw on HIM!  We will be fulfilled!

I’m gonna make this really easy on you, here are 5 STEPS TO JOY, PEACE, & HAPPINESS!

Step 1: Pray
Lord, I choose to allow my joy to come from You and You alone. You chose to die for me and that ONE act of pure unselfishness counted me as important and special. There is nothing else, that anyone could ever do, that could bring more peace or joy into my life! Thank You Lord for a happiness that is unmatched by anyone or anything. Amen

Step 2: Think of what or who you think makes you unhappy. (Don’t think about it too long!) Now, write it down, choose not to allow Satan to use them or the circumstance to steal your happiness any longer, throw the paper away and believe what JESUS says instead!
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” – John 14:27

Step 3: Take a deep breath and smile! It’s that easy!

Step 4. Allow your new found joy to be infectious to others!

Step 5. Repeat steps 1 through 4!
(Why repeat?  Because we’re human.)

Do You Feel Empty Handed?

I believe I had a word from the Lord today and I just wanted to share it with you.  You might be asking…”How do you get a word from God?”  Well first you have to be completely sinless and fall on your face in prayer and fasting for 3 days!  JUST KIDDING!  You wanna know how I get it?  I ASK!  Yep…it’s that simple and then just listen.

Anyway this is what I heard,

“My people – I have heard your prayers – I know things seem empty handed but they are so full (in the spirit realm): There is a harvest coming.  Keep those empty hands in a position to receive.  Just like Ruth had more than she ever needed dropped right in front of her, that’s what you will experience.  But Ruth was where she needed to be.  She showed up ready to work but also willing to rest at the feet of her Redeemer and willing to receive everything he graciously offered her.  She was not too proud to walk behind the workers and gather what they dropped and she was humble enough obey her authority (her mother-in-law) to go and lay at the feet of her Redeemer and then receive everything he had to offer. – Learn a lesson from Ruth.  Go where I tell you to go and do as the Holy Spirit says to do and you will find yourself with full hands overflowing so that you can be a blessing to others.”

When I receive a word from the Lord I always like to ask for a scripture to confirm it.  I heard Ruth 1:5 so I looked it up and it just said, “both Mahlon and Kilion died. This left Naomi alone, without her two sons or her husband.”  I thought about it and then listened for another verse lol, but the Lord said, “Read it again”. So I did and He showed me this… This verse points to Naomi being alone, widowed, & without children right?  However, we don’t always consider that Ruth too was left widowed and without children.  However, because Ruth was more concerned for her mother-in-law who lost BOTH her sons AND her husband, Ruth decided to put her own needs and desires aside and serve someone else in need instead.  And would you believe that when she did this, her own needs and desires were met even more abundantly than she could have ever dreamed of?!

Yes, God is THAT good and He loves you THAT much!

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. – Romans 15:13

My Pro-Choice

There has been this buzz in the air for many years now about this thing called “Women’s Rights”.  Now I’ve never been one who likes to stir up controversy….matter of fact….I tend to stay as FAR AWAY from controversy as I possibly can.  However….with recent events that just took place I am finding it really really hard to just be quiet.  So, I asked the Lord to show me how to share my heart about this matter in the most loving and compassionate way possible.

I’ve always found that when you can find a common ground with people you’re talking with, (especially if they’re going through a difficult situation) there will be more compassion that comes out of you and more that they draw in from you as well.

So my first thought was…. “I am married with 3 kids and I’m a stay at home mom.  How can I effectively speak to all the women out there? I don’t really represent many different types of women in the world….or do I?

So I began reflecting back on what rolls I had played in just the last 25 years of my life and in doing so, I realized that I can actually represent a huge percentage of  women!  This has made me so very excited!

I became a TEEN MOM  my senior year of high school but continued to go to school and became a HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE.  I worked as a STAY AT HOME MOM for our family owned business as a photographer and graphic designer for the next 12 years.  I became an ENTREPRENEUR running a small company out of my home while working part time at my daughter’s school to help pay her tuition.

As my daughter got older I eventually worked my first FULL TIME POSITION OUT OF THE HOME which is where I met my amazing husband!  I worked there for 4 years where I traveled and met with many business men and women making important decisions for our entire company.  A year after our son was born I was graciously allowed to work the same job with the same pay but in the home.

I did that for the next 5 years until I began HOMESCHOOLING our son and decided I needed more time doing so.  So I asked if I could take a pay cut and just work part time as needed. They…again…graciously agreed and I did that for the next 3 years while homeschooling our 2 youngest children and became a Charis BIBLE COLLEGE STUDENT.

Then as of May of last year, 2016 I quit my job completely so that I could totally focus on supporting my husband in his ministry, homeschooling our children and graduating Charis Bible College.

For the first time in my 41 years I became a STAY AT HOME MOM!

I don’t share this with you to say ,”Hey, look what I’ve done!” but simply to say….look what opportunities are out there for ALL WOMEN.  But it is a CHOICE to believe this and to live it out.  God is not a respecter of persons.  Jesus died so that ALL might have life and have it more abundantly.  I CHOOSE to believe THAT and to live a life here on earth as abundantly as possible! I’m not saying there weren’t hard times in those 25 years.  There were obstacles, road blocks, and tears but we have to CHOOSE not to be a victim.  It’s a CHOICE that WE get to make. Either let the hard times define us or don’t.

So there you have it….I am pro-choice!  Maybe it’s not the pro-choice you were expecting but it’s a choice that will give you much greater results than the one you may be fighting for.

John 10:10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

God Himself gave us a choice in Deuteronomy 30:19  “Today I have given you the CHOICE between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the CHOICE you make. Oh, that you would CHOOSE life, so that you and your descendants might LIVE!”

It’s October 31st….the day of Evil!

Tonight….as soon as the sun goes down, little “witches” and “ghosts” and “zombies” will be flooding our streets and even showing up on our door steps!  What do we do?  Turn off the lights and pretend we’re not home!  How do we hide from those scary little princesses, superheroes, and Dora the Explorers?

Wait….how about we don’t!  What if we were to let our light shine!
In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. – Matthew 5:16

THIS is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24
The Bible doesn’t say that God created everyday EXCEPT October 31st.  So why are Christians dreading this day and calling it the day of evil?  We have allowed the enemy to claim a day as HIS by giving it over to him! I say it’s time to take it back!

My family has always celebrated October 31st by putting our Christmas tree up!  This year, we decided to put it up early so that we can be outside in our front yard blessing all those little goblins that show up!  I’m getting so excited just thinking about it!  Our house will be shining! We will have our Christmas inflatables set up, games for the kids to play, candy, a snow machine and a prayer box!

We will be praying that each kid and parent walks away feeling the love of Jesus!

But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” – Matthew 19:14

The Lord is faithful; He will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.2 Thessalonians 3:3

You CAN control your emotions – Question is…will you CHOOSE to?

Everyday….every moment….

we have a choice to make…

It’s our choice to be:

Happy or Sad
Depressed or Excited
Offended or Forgiving
Hateful or Loving
Depressed or Joyful
Conflicted or Peaceful
Impatient or Patient
Mean or Kind
Wicked or Good
Unfaithful or Faithful

Deuteronomy 11:26 “Look! I am giving you a choice between a blessing and a curse.”
Deuteronomy 30:19 “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!”

It all depends on how you CHOOSE to live your life. You can spend your days by:
Making the most of your time in a positive manner or
Waste it being negative.

There is so much God has given us but we don’t see it. We haven’t received it because the enemy keeps stealing it or we just keep handing it right over to him. We MUST stop letting the enemy steal our blessings!

What are God’s blessings? I’m glad you asked!

Read Deuteronomy 7:12-15, Deuteronomy 28:1-14, Psalms 91

It’s not about being perfect for God so that we can attain His blessings, it’s about trusting that He has already given us all of them! We’ve already got it but we have to realize it and take ownership.

We are the ones who open the door for the enemy to come in a steal them from us.

When anger is knocking – allow the peace God has given you to answer the door.
When depression is trying to come in – allow the joy that we are filled with to keep it out.
When offense tries to come in – choose NOT to bring the old man back to life
When doubt shows up at the door – choose to trust God and all that He has done for you.
When fear tries to sneak in – choose to believe God’s word that says He will protect you.
When sickness comes around – choose to tell it where it can go!
When pride calls – humble yourself by not answering

You always have a choice.

God’s word is truth – God’s word will always shut the door on anger, depression, offense, doubt, fear, sickness, poverty, guilt, sadness, etc.

Do not allow the enemy to enter in with these things. KNOW your blessings instead. Know the truth and set your heart and mind on these things. Think on them. Know who you are in Christ. You are the righteousness of Christ and th enemy DOES NOT want you to know that. Because he knows You WILL BE unstoppable – fully of joy, peace, love unwavering in your faith – pouring out an immense amount of pleasure and hope into everyone you meet. So full of life that it’s contagious! Isn’t that where you want to be? You CAN!

Choose to deny your fleshly emotions and desires to get offended, to be filled with grief or sadness to be depressed or angry or upset. Even when everything around you says “it’s okay – you deserve to feel this way!” – Don’t give in to that! First of all it’s a lie from the pit of hell! It’s a lie that is trying to steal your blessings. If the enemy/the world can make you believe you’re a victim – that’s what you will remain. But you are not a victim, you are a victorious righteous son/daughter of the King of Kings and have inherited RIGHT NOW everything God has! You must believe that we are not of this world.

We have to take off the blinders – renew our minds to the things of God. Let go of baggage we were never meant to carry. Get a hold of His truth and don’t give into negative emotions and you will see the overcomer you are!

Ephesians 4:17-24
17 With the Lord’s authority I say this: Live no longer as the Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused. 18 Their minds are full of darkness; they wander far from the life God gives because they have closed their minds and hardened their hearts against him. 19 They have no sense of shame. They live for lustful pleasure and eagerly practice every kind of impurity. 20 But that isn’t what you learned about Christ. 21 Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, 22 throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. 23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. 24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.

Our goal is not to try and BECOME people of righteousness – our goal is to REALIZE we already are!

The Proverbs 31 Lady was more than likely self-educated. She knew who she was in the eyes of her Lord therefor she was able to accomplish much. We MUST know this too! THEN…..we will make a positive impact on ALL of those around us.

Philippians 4:8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. 9 Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.

Few quotes to ponder on…

“It’s really this simple….you either believe it or you don’t.”

”You will be content with discontent if you don’t uncover the truth of God’s word.”

“We can not agree with the enemy. Don’t agree with what LOOKS LIKE reality.”

I was talking to God about all of the fake “reality” out there and He said, “My Word is the only true reality”.

puppet-strings-imageA few weeks ago God told me to start reading Jeremiah so I read a few chapters each day.  Then one day I asked Him where I should read and He said, “You still haven’t finished Jeremiah.”  Oops!  So I finished it finally and now I’m starting it again because there is something important that God wants to show me and I want to make sure I get everything He has for me.

Then a few days ago I asked God what He wanted me to DO and He said, “Write.”  Now here it is a few days later and I ask Him again….what do you want me to do today? He says, “You still haven’t started writing.”  Oops again!

Thank God He doesn’t give up just because we do.  God has a plan for us (He always has) but unless we take responsibility in doing our part, that plan could be a lot harder to get to and take a lot longer than necessary.

No, this doesn’t mean we are puppets on a string as so many think. This is how I see it….we have very limited time here on earth to make a difference and to enjoy every minute of this life.  If I know who has the best plan to make that happen (and I do),  I can CHOOSE to ask His advice and then I can CHOOSE to take it.  The other option would be to CHOOSE to do it all on my own (been there, done that, don’t want to go back!)  Last time I remember….puppets don’t have a choice what they can and can’t do.

We ultimately ALL have the save destiny….ETERNITY.  So we need to ask ourselves these important questions.:
1, Where do I want that eternity to be spent?
2. How many people am I going to take with me?
3. What’s the best way for this to happen?

Here’s my answers…

1. I want to spend eternity with Jesus on earth AND in Heaven
2. My desire is to take everyone I meet to Heaven.
3. I plan on asking God’s advice on everything and taking it!

People are attracted to and want to follow successful people, right? Well God’s idea of success is being so blessed that people are attracted to you, then you get to share the Good News with them and watch them live that blessed life!

When I ask God a question…I want to listen to His reply because He always has the right answer...always.

God has poured out ALL His blessings on us.  He has given us EVERYTHING we need to live a successful life. We just have to grab a hold of those blessings.  How are you going to find out how?  Ask Him.

“Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!”Deuteronomy 30:19

match_to_light_the_moment_the_04_hd_pictures_168396This month, I got a little behind on preparing for the Proverbs 31 Lady Bible study.  Thank God I could rely on the Holy Spirit to lead it! So that morning I admitted to God that I had no idea what to talk about (which of course, He knew…because I hadn’t asked Him.)  Soooo, I asked God, “Lord what do You want to say to Your daughters today?”  This is what I believe He said and I wanted to share it with all parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and guardians because I believe it is a great word for all of us.  Here goes:

“Get out there and shake the world!  Do it through your kids!  Teach them how to lead – to be leaders not followers.  Light their flame. Be the one who ignites them every morning, inspiring them to get into the word of God. Encouraging them through love, to be on fire for the things I have for them.  Be their example.  How can you pass on a flame if you’re not lit yourself?”

The God began using an example.  He said, “If a friend of yours wanted to know more about your husband, who would they come to?  You!  Why? Because you have a noticeable obvious relationship with him, a close and intimate relationship.  Someone could find out a lot about your husband through you.  They would know that you know what you’re talking about because you live with him.  Is it evident that I live with you?  Do your kids KNOW that they can come to you and find out about ME?  Is the way you live your life a good representation that I am taking care of you?  Do they want what you have?”

Then I heard Hebrews 11:5 and had to go look it up to see what it said.  This is it… “It was by faith that Enoch was taken up to Heaven without dying. “He disappeared because God took him. For before he was taken up he was KNOWN AS A PERSON WHO PLEASED GOD.

You have to ask yourself, are you constantly complaining to your kids about money – or people?  Are you worried all the time about tomorrow?  Are you angry with your kids all the time? Do you look down upon them anytime they mess up? Are you announcing their failures to the world?  Do you think God does that to us?  Do you think God does that to THEM? No.  So why are we?

I would rather my kids know they can come to me when they make a mistake then to be afraid to because they know I will go announce it to everyone.  If our kids can’t trust us with every aspect of their life, they may feel as though they can’t trust God.  So many times, a relationship with our heavenly Father and how we see Him, is based on how our parents treat us.  I’m not saying we are completely responsible for our kids’ relationship with God, but it can definitely start with us.  We need to be a light for the world….but let’s start by lighting up our homes.

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.” – Matthew 5:14-15
