I love being around wise people. I love hearing the wisdom they have attained through their years of life, experiences in ministry, and direct words from the Lord. So when I read most of Proverbs, it’s like getting to hang out with King Solomon, the wisest of them all.
However, I’ve realized that depending on the CONDITION OF YOUR HEART and the MINDSET you have, you can read Proverbs and feel so much conviction that you walk away from it thinking you’re a failure and unable to be used by God OR you realize you’ve just gained so much WISDOM and UNDERSTANDING that you walk away wiser, willing and ready to allow God to move in your life and use you in mighty ways for His glory. Check the condition of your heart and mind!
Their purpose is to teach people wisdom and discipline, to help them understand the insights of the wise. Their purpose is to teach people to live disciplined and successful lives, to help them do what is right, just, and fair. These proverbs will give insight to the simple, knowledge and discernment to the young. Let the wise listen to these proverbs and become even wiser. Let those with understanding receive guidance by exploring the meaning in these proverbs and parables, the words of the wise and their riddles. – Proverbs 1:2-6 NLT
