A penguin wasn’t designed to fly. It could spend it’s whole life trying, but it wasn’t in the Maker’s plan for it to fly, so unless it jumps on an airplane, it’s just not going to happen. Even then, at some point it would have to come back down. However, a penguin WAS designed to shoot through the water like a torpedo and glide down the ice on it’s belly. Have you ever watched penguins at play? It’s pretty fascinating and looks really fun. But if one of those penguins just sat there staring up at the sky wishing they could fly, they would miss out on doing the wonderful things God designed THEM to be doing.
Human beings were designed to be in communion with God, spending time with Him and loving on Him. We can spend our whole lives running and trying to separate ourselves from God. We can use our gifts and talents to put us in the spotlight, make us rich and famous, or to impress other people but in the end, we’re going to miss out. We’ll never find that long lasting joy and happiness because we’re not doing what we were designed to do. We have to stop spending this short time here on earth satisfying our own selfish and sinful desires.
What are your gifts and talents? What special abilities do you have? Once you realize what these are…thank God for them, trust Him, and use them to glorify Christ and lead others to do the same.
I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. – Romans 15:13
