The widowed woman with the olive oil, Naaman and his leprosy, the disciples and the fish they caught, the disciples feeding the 5,000, the wine at the wedding. I could go on and on but the point is…read your Bible and you will see many many times over and over where God performed miracles for people and it always began by them obeying something that God said to do. Obedience shows faith, trust, and loyalty.
I saw this happen personally and it changed the entire direction of my life! It was a simple act of obedience to God and I almost ignored it because I just knew He was wrong. I was several months into searching for a job and I FINALLY asked God for direction and He said this, “Go to your mom’s work”. Seems easy right? However, I KNEW (let me repeat that) I knew they weren’t hiring right now so I kinda argued with God a little bit as if I knew something He didn’t! Anyway, thank goodness He was extremely persistent with me so I finally obeyed and guess what…I got hired! The story gets way better from there but it’s long so you can email me at email@example.com and I’ll share the story with you if you’d like.
It was exactly 11 years ago when this event took place and I remember it like it was yesterday. God did a miracle in my life and I will never doubt His power again.
Sometimes it’s not easy to be obedient and sometimes it’s really easy but we just think we know better than God so we don’t.
How did the disciples get filled with Holy Spirit? Obedience. They had to wait in Jerusalem where their lives were being threatened. They had to wait on something they had never even seen done before.
Luke 24:49 “And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. BUT STAY HERE in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.”
Acts 1:4-5 4 Once when he was eating with them, he commanded them, “DO NOT LEAVE Jerusalem until the Father sends you the gift He promised, as I told you before. 5 John baptized with[a] water, but in just a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”
I don’t know about you….but I’m so grateful for their obedience.
What miracle are you waiting for? Has God asked you to step out on faith and do something but you still haven’t done it? What are you waiting for?
