My Pro-Choice

There has been this buzz in the air for many years now about this thing called “Women’s Rights”.  Now I’ve never been one who likes to stir up controversy….matter of fact….I tend to stay as FAR AWAY from controversy as I possibly can.  However….with recent events that just took place I am finding it really really hard to just be quiet.  So, I asked the Lord to show me how to share my heart about this matter in the most loving and compassionate way possible.

I’ve always found that when you can find a common ground with people you’re talking with, (especially if they’re going through a difficult situation) there will be more compassion that comes out of you and more that they draw in from you as well.

So my first thought was…. “I am married with 3 kids and I’m a stay at home mom.  How can I effectively speak to all the women out there? I don’t really represent many different types of women in the world….or do I?

So I began reflecting back on what rolls I had played in just the last 25 years of my life and in doing so, I realized that I can actually represent a huge percentage of  women!  This has made me so very excited!

I became a TEEN MOM  my senior year of high school but continued to go to school and became a HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE.  I worked as a STAY AT HOME MOM for our family owned business as a photographer and graphic designer for the next 12 years.  I became an ENTREPRENEUR running a small company out of my home while working part time at my daughter’s school to help pay her tuition.

As my daughter got older I eventually worked my first FULL TIME POSITION OUT OF THE HOME which is where I met my amazing husband!  I worked there for 4 years where I traveled and met with many business men and women making important decisions for our entire company.  A year after our son was born I was graciously allowed to work the same job with the same pay but in the home.

I did that for the next 5 years until I began HOMESCHOOLING our son and decided I needed more time doing so.  So I asked if I could take a pay cut and just work part time as needed. They…again…graciously agreed and I did that for the next 3 years while homeschooling our 2 youngest children and became a Charis BIBLE COLLEGE STUDENT.

Then as of May of last year, 2016 I quit my job completely so that I could totally focus on supporting my husband in his ministry, homeschooling our children and graduating Charis Bible College.

For the first time in my 41 years I became a STAY AT HOME MOM!

I don’t share this with you to say ,”Hey, look what I’ve done!” but simply to say….look what opportunities are out there for ALL WOMEN.  But it is a CHOICE to believe this and to live it out.  God is not a respecter of persons.  Jesus died so that ALL might have life and have it more abundantly.  I CHOOSE to believe THAT and to live a life here on earth as abundantly as possible! I’m not saying there weren’t hard times in those 25 years.  There were obstacles, road blocks, and tears but we have to CHOOSE not to be a victim.  It’s a CHOICE that WE get to make. Either let the hard times define us or don’t.

So there you have it….I am pro-choice!  Maybe it’s not the pro-choice you were expecting but it’s a choice that will give you much greater results than the one you may be fighting for.

John 10:10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

God Himself gave us a choice in Deuteronomy 30:19  “Today I have given you the CHOICE between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the CHOICE you make. Oh, that you would CHOOSE life, so that you and your descendants might LIVE!”

I would LOVE to hear from you, if you have any questions, comments,  concerns, or just need some encouragement, you can  email me at angela@shekinah.tv.
