What’s On The Menu?

Don’t shelter your kids.  If you do, they won’t know what hits them when they go out into the “real world.” They need to experience life. Let them be exposed to what’s out there.  I grew up in church then went crazy in the world, but I came back to church and got on the right path…they’ll be fine.

As homeschool parents who keep our kids with us as much as humanly possible and tries to preserve their innocence as much as we can WHILE we can.  I hear those things mentioned above and I cringe!  I’m sure most of those words even came out of my OWN MOUTH a few years back. Because this is how our oldest daughter was raised.  Praise God my perspective has changed and praise God she didn’t stray TOO FAR off the path and she is married and serving as a leader with her husband in our church.  Yes, it can work out that way….but she didn’t have to experience the things she did.

Now we’re raising her 2 younger siblings and we’re following some GOOD advice! I heard these two statements that really touched my heart and I’ve been wanting to share them.

“I have 18 years to instill everything I can into my children before they go out on their own. In a world that is trying to corrupt them with lies and temptations, it is OUR JOB to shield them, to hide them in a safe environment and to BE THE FILTER through which they learn things. We’re here to give them roots. Like a seedling in a greenhouse, we’re not keeping them from the inevitable; we’re PREPARING THEM to thrive!”Jentezen Franklin

“I want to establish their appetite BEFORE they are handed the menu.” – Gregg Johnson – founder of J12 ministries.

I absolutely love their perspective on parenting and it’s biblical!

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. – Proverbs 22:6

Taste and see that the LORD is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in Him!Psalm 34:8

Instill truth, purity, love, honesty, patience, joy, kindness and forgiveness through the word of God and your kids will be prepared for anything the world wants to throw at them.  They won’t be caught off guard and have the desire to experience “something new”.  They will be appalled by it and shine a light will be so bright – darkness won’t stand a chance!

Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” John 18:12

Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.Psalm 119:105

Lord, help me to raise my children by Your Word giving them the desire to know You themselves and establish their own relationship with You. Holy Spirit show me who my children were created to be! In Jesus’ name, I pray….AMEN!

Are You In A Relationship?

Are you in a relationship and if so…is it a good relationship or a bad one? What makes it good?  What makes it bad?  I’ve not done a poll….but my uneducated guess would be one answer for both.  Communication.  Either the communication is healthy, two sided, and open….resulting in a good relationship, or there is a lack of communication. It’s one sided and closed minded which most likely results in a bad relationship.

This morning as I was working on a very important relationship (the one I have with my Heavenly Father), He showed me something that I pray I never forget. He had me think about our night time devotions with the kids.  I love these moments with them when Daddy reads from the Bible or a devotional book and they consistently interrupt him with their questions, thoughts, or ideas (usually….but not always…pertaining to the subject).

So as I’m pondering on this time, here is what the Lord speaks to my heart, He says, “You know how much you love when your kids get into a deep conversation with you?  How you talk to them about something and they give their ideas on what they think about it?  Even if it’s way off, you love to hear what they have to say – what they’re thinking.  You don’t shut them down if it’s wrong, you gently speak the truth, encouraging them to keep talking.  Or when they do get it right – you give them praise and adoration and you’re so thankful that they’ve been paying attention.  You don’t put the blame on them for not knowing the truth either.  You realize they haven’t either been taught the truth or maybe just haven’t grabbed hold of the revelation of it.  So you hope for more opportunities to have these conversations with them.  That’s what I want.  I want more opportunities to talk with you, to share the truth, to help you to have a greater revelation of My love, Who I am and what I have planned for your life.”

I am so thankful that God WANTS to be in a relationship with ME!  He wants to be in a relationship with YOU too!!  Communication with Him is the key.  Get to know Him.  Yes, He already knows everything about you, but He still desires for You to share what’s in your heart with Him.

I never get tired of hearing my kids say, “I love you” or when they say, “Do you remember when……”. Even if they have reminded me of it a thousand times….they are still reminiscing on good times we had together and want me to know that’s what’s in their heart. God never gets tired of hearing from us either.

And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. 15 And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.1 John 5:14-15

Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. – Ephesians 3:17

Who doesn’t just want to be happy?  Seems fair enough, right?  I personally believe that happiness, joy and peace are a CHOICE!  And it’s a choice that WE get to make!

We can’t depend on others for our happiness, our joy, or our peace. When we depend on or rely on others to fulfill this in us, we are placing a burden on them that they were NOT meant to carry. This includes our spouses, our children, our parents, our employers and even our pastors.

This also goes the other way around. It is not OUR job, duty, or responsibility to bring peace, joy, or happiness to anyone else.  So go ahead and take that load off….it’s not yours to carry.

Someone else already carried our burdens and everyone else’s. His name is Jesus and when we believe what He did and draw on HIM!  We will be fulfilled!

I’m gonna make this really easy on you, here are 5 STEPS TO JOY, PEACE, & HAPPINESS!

Step 1: Pray
Lord, I choose to allow my joy to come from You and You alone. You chose to die for me and that ONE act of pure unselfishness counted me as important and special. There is nothing else, that anyone could ever do, that could bring more peace or joy into my life! Thank You Lord for a happiness that is unmatched by anyone or anything. Amen

Step 2: Think of what or who you think makes you unhappy. (Don’t think about it too long!) Now, write it down, choose not to allow Satan to use them or the circumstance to steal your happiness any longer, throw the paper away and believe what JESUS says instead!
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” – John 14:27

Step 3: Take a deep breath and smile! It’s that easy!

Step 4. Allow your new found joy to be infectious to others!

Step 5. Repeat steps 1 through 4!
(Why repeat?  Because we’re human.)

I hope you were encouraged by this word.  You can email me at

Illustrated by my beautiful niece, Kasandra Ford

We have a dog…his name is Sparky.  My husband and I never thought we’d have a dog or any pet for that matter.  However, someone found this cute little ball of fur on the side of the road and posted a picture of him and we all just fell in love.  We did research the best we knew how…GOOGLED IT…and it looked as though this type of dog wouldn’t get too big or shed too much.

Soooo now we have a massive Border Collie/Pyrenees mix that sheds ALL OVER the place AND thinks our 8 year old son is in his pack!  He’s really a pretty good dog except for the fact that when he wants to play, he plays like a pack dog would, so he’s nipping and growling at our son.  Not cool!

Well the other day (just like any other day) he’s trying to “play” with my son and I get really angry and yell “STOP!” then I tap him on the nose and throw him outside.  (He weighs at least 100 pounds now so it was more like I pushed or scooted him outside).  However, at that moment (unlike all the other times), I heard God say to me, “How are you going to love people who KNOW they are doing wrong, when you get so mad at your dog who doesn’t EVEN KNOW that what he is doing is wrong?”  I know that sounds crazy….but it was a huge heart check for me.  Yes, I was trying to protect my child, but there was no compassion, no gentle correction, no training, just wrath and that’s how I was treating people too!

I’ve always known that God has called us to love everyone.  I’ve even “preached” it.  Hate the sin, but love the sinner.  However, I wasn’t really DOING it.  I believe there was a huge lack of compassion there…especially for those who KNEW they were doing wrong.  Before this “revelation”, my conversation with God could have been something like this:

Me: “Really God?  It’s a bold faced lie and I’m just supposed to show them love?”
God: “YES!”
Me: “Okay, but I hope something bad happens so they learn their lesson”.
God:  “Well, I’d like them to learn their lesson WITHOUT something bad happening.”
Me: “But then they would just get away with lying to me”.
God: “You? What do they owe to YOU?”

Yeah….ouch!  If there is a lack of loving others, it stems from pride. I mean, think about it…the fall of man began with pride.  Besides, I’d be fooling myself if I said I had never lied to God or willingly sinned and guess what…He STILL loves me.  He still shows me compassion and favor.  He is humble, gentle and caring.

Oh Father, show me how to love like you do!  Show me how to display love like Jesus did when He walked this earth.   Let my heart overflow with compassion for those being attacked by evil…EVEN THOSE who surround themselves with it intentionally.  Let me look upon each of YOUR created masterpieces with admiration and love, seeing them for who YOU created them to be.  When someone is about to trap themselves in a lie, give me the desire to FREE them instead of catching them.  You never desire for us to fail so that we may learn.  Your plan for us is to succeed WITHOUT disaster.  Thank you Father!  In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen!

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11

“Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.” Romans 12:10

“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” –  1 John 4:7-8

wolfWe are not supposed to fear, but we constantly make it an option and it’s an option that we choose over and over.

A storm comes along, our boat begins filling up with water and fear tries to jump right in there with it.  We can choose not to allow it in but sometimes we invite it.

Fear is just an obstacle trying to stop us from doing something that God wants us to do.  If we allow fear to win, we lose. If we decide to go against that fear and do what God wants us to, it’s a victory.

I was reading in Ezra this morning and this line stuck out to me.  EVEN THOUGH the people were afraid of the local residents, they rebuilt the altar at its old site. Then they began to sacrifice burnt offerings on the altar to the Lord each morning and evening.” – Ezra 3:3  These people felt as though they had a reason to fear, BUT they didn’t allow it to stop them from doing God’s work.

One Sunday, I asked a young man on our children’s worship team to say the closing prayer.  I knew he had it in him, yet he was so frightened that he turned red and began sweating.  He just couldn’t get himself to do it.  Right after church though, he told me that he regretted not praying because public speaking was his worst fear and he wished he had faced it.  A couple weeks later, I approached him again with the same opportunity.  He stood  there in front of all the children…completely silent… for a good couple minutes with the mic in his hand.  He was extremely nervous, however, this time he didn’t allow fear to win.  He handed the mic back to me and prayed without it.  But even the people in the very back could hear him.  It was short but it was bold and that day…that young man had a victory for God!

I pray that you will choose TODAY that FEAR will not be an option anymore.

Rear-View-MirrorAs we venture into the New Year many of us are reflecting back on 2014, so before you do just know there’s a time to look back and there’s a time not too.

This morning I was reading in Jeremiah and in two chapters back to back the Bible referred to two men basically as cowards because they didn’t look back.  The bravest of its fighting men run without a backward glance. They are terrorized at every turn,” says the Lord. Terrified fathers run madly, without a backward glance at their helpless children. – Jeremiah 46:5, 47:3

However, there are also times when it was a bad deal if the people did look back.  Lot’s wife for example in Genesis 19:26. But Lot’s wife looked back as she was following behind him, and she turned into a pillar of salt.

And in Luke 9:62  when Jesus was gathering His disciples. But Jesus told him, “Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God.”

So how do we know when we should look back and when we shouldn’t?  Try asking yourself this question…what will draw me closer to God in 2015 and what won’t?

Don’t be afraid to look back at past mistakes and failures, but don’t allow them to bring condemnation on you or fear of repeating them. Instead, look back on them with a boldness in knowing that God can use those failures to make you a powerful witness for Him.

Don’t look back desiring things you gave up for God (that’s what Lot’s wife did).  If God asked you to give it up or walk away from it, don’t even take the memory of it into the New Year.  God’s desires for you are so much better than you could ever fathom.

Do look back on all the blessings in your life, the favor God showed you, and the mercy He extended you throughout the year.  You can’t help but be thankful and go into the New Year with a deeper love for Jesus and a longing to be in His presence.

Lord Jesus, I look forward to every new day you give me and I pray that I seek Your will for each of them.  As I reflect back on the past year of my life, leaving behind anything that was not from You, may it draw me into a closer relationship with Jesus.  I pray that I will seek Your word daily, allowing it to show me who I truly am, who YOU created me to be.  Then may I be a reflection of You Lord Jesus, to others.  In Jesus’ name, I pray….AMEN!!

prideGod has really been speaking to me lately about pride; this huge barrier that can keep us from serving God unselfishly.  To serve God is to love people…all people.  How can we really do this if we are putting ourselves above others?

When we help someone out and don’t receive so much as a thank you…is it really a big deal?  It is if that’s why you did it. How about if you do a huge favor for someone but don’t get a favor back? Will it change your attitude towards that person?  It will if you were expecting something in return.  Let’s say you invite someone to your birthday party and they don’t bring a present.  Will you invite them again next year?  Probably not if your motive in inviting them was so they would bring you a gift.

Now imagine this: That person you helped out or did a favor for, or invited to the party…they went home, dropped to their knees and thanked God for answering their prayers!  Prayers for help, for someone to show them kindness, to just be included.

This is one of those deceptions of the enemy, to make us believe we deserve recognition, applause, or gratitude.  The enemy wants to steal the gratitude that only God deserves and he’s using our pride to do it.

Jesus demonstrated the greatest example of living a humble life.  He was here to serve, never putting His desires above His love for us.  We have that same ability in  us and yet it’s so hard sometimes to walk it out.  If we would just remember that it’s not US who deserves the glory, but God alone, we can totally kill pride.

Holy Spirit, help me to recognize pride when it tries to creep into my life.  I want to be Your humble servant, loving others with the same compassion that You have.  I pray that I would never demand or even desire the glory that only you deserve. In Jesus’ name….AMEN!

Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. – Philippians 2:3

But He gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”James 4:6

20140702_075213I woke up this morning, poured my coffee and sat down to read my Bible.  Just as I began reading, I started sneezing, my nose started running, and then my eyes started watering.  I was having a difficult time focusing on reading with blurry watery eyes, having to stop every few seconds to blow my nose, and of course sneezing is just annoying!

I kept going though and opened up this book I’m reading about understanding what it really means to have the spirit of God living inside of you and how it is the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead.  The author was speaking about the healings he had personally been a part of since he began understanding this as well.

As I was reading this and sneezing and wiping my nose and eyes, I thought “Okay I HAVE to go get a benedryl!”  Then I felt like God said, “Really???  Are you not paying attention to what you’re reading?”  Whoops!  So I declared right then and there, “I am healed, that same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is inside me.  Spirit of distraction leave now in Jesus’ name!” Almost instantly my eyes dried up, the itchy feeling in my nose went away and I haven’t sneezed one time since!

God has given us EVERYTHING we need – Jesus.  If you believe He died for you, then believe the rest.  He came so that we could have life and have it abundantly.   If you don’t believe Jesus died for you, He did.

22 “I (Jesus) have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. 23 I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me. John 17:22-23

keep-calm-and-love-your-childrenTake authority over your children or someone else will.  That’s what I kept hearing today.  If I don’t teach my children how important they are to Christ, how sought after and loved they are, then someone else is going to come along and tell them what the world thinks about them.  You HAVE to take the authority God has given you in your children’s lives and speak blessings into them.  They need to know how loved they are no matter what; that nothing they will ever do can change your love for them or God’s love for them; that God has created them with a beautiful soul to pour out this love to others.

The world is going to fill their heads with who it thinks they should be or need to be or how it thinks they need to act or dress or talk. The world is setting the standards for this generation and it is not at all the way God intended it to be, which is to love God and love one another.  The world’s standards seem to be: change yourself and do whatever it takes to make the world love YOU.  NO!

If people would see the value that God has placed in them, they wouldn’t desire what the world has to offer.  Instill this in your children at an early age and if they’re older, it’s not too late to speak this into their lives.  I am learning this on both levels.  My children are 20, 7, and 4.  My 20  year old was a learning experience for me. We’ve been going through this together but I’m not giving up my authority just because she’s an adult.  God still gave her to me.  He has shown me her value and her worth, and constantly confirming how He is protecting her for the amazing things He has planned for her.  I will not allow the enemy any authority over my children, young or old.

I pray that every parent out there would read their Bible and speak His life giving words over your children.

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. – Romans 12:2

Tell your children about it in the years to come, and let your children tell their children. Pass the story down from generation to generation. – Joel 1:3

For the believing wife brings holiness to her marriage, and the believing husband brings holiness to his marriage. Otherwise, your children would not be holy, but now they are holy. – 1 Corinthians 7:14

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord. – Ephesians 6:4

Fathers, do not aggravate your children, or they will become discouraged. – Colossians 3:21

k0982255My friend sent me a text today and asked for prayer for protection over her husband.  About an hour later I opened my Bible to some highlighted verses in Psalms.  The words, “I will rescue those who love me and I will protect those who trust in my name” shouted at me from the page.  I knew this was a good chapter for my friend to read just as a reminder to her that her prayer was already answered because she was coming in agreement with God’s word.

If you have asked Jesus into your life, the Holy Spirit is living inside of you, guiding you’re every step.  He can even keep you from “hurting your foot on a stone”.  Some may say, “well that’s just because they weren’t looking where they were going” or “they’re just clumsy”.

Well I believe it’s because they didn’t listen to that still, small voice that said, “move to the right (or left)” or “don’t go that way”.  Think about it…how many times has something happened and you said, “Duh!  I KNEW I shouldn’t have…” Or “I KNEW I should have…” You KNEW it because you heard the Holy Spirit warn you, you just didn’t pay attention to it.

Please don’t get me wrong. Don’t read this as a slap in the face reminder of when you didn’t pay attention.  We are not supposed to look back at each others failures reminding them of their wrongs.  Instead we are to encourage each other in the Word, so that we may look forward to walking the path God has laid out for us.

This isn’t a “Look at what you DID!” lesson, but rather a “Look at what you HAVE!” reminder.  “His faithful promises are your armor and protection.”

Psalms 91
1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 This I declare of the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I am trusting Him. 3 For He will rescue you from every trap and protect you from the fatal plague. 4 He will shield you with his wings. He will shelter you with his feathers. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. 5 Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor fear the dangers of the day, 6 nor dread the plague that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. 7 Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. 8 But you will see it with your eyes; you will see how the wicked are punished. 9 If you make the LORD your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, 10 no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your dwelling. 11 For He orders his angels to protect you wherever you go. 12 They will hold you with their hands to keep you from striking your foot on a stone. 13 You will trample down lions and poisonous snakes; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! 14 The LORD says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. 15 When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue them and honor them. 16 I will satisfy them with a long life and give them my salvation.”

My prayer is that our children know the love You have for them
That they will let their lives be guided, by the Holy Spirit within
I pray that they will know You Lord and all that You have done
From Creation to the amazing sacrifice of Your only Son

I pray that they will realize Jesus had THEM on His heart
When He said “It is finished!” with his body shred apart
I know they’ll never comprehend that scandalous show of grace
But I pray that they believe it washes shame right off their face

I pray they never feel condemned for wrong that they may do
But instead will feel conviction from the love they have for You
Holy Spirit guide them in every choice they’ll have to make
Don’t let the world around them turn them into something fake

Show them who they are, who YOU’VE called them to be
Make Your plans known to them.  Lord, make them known to me
Show us how to raise them to be servants of Your Son
You’ve placed them in our care Lord and I ask Your will be done

It’s in Jesus’ mighty name I pray, He’s my Savior, my Lord, my Friend
I believe it, I receive it, SO BE IT and AMEN!

Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older,
they will not leave it. – Proverbs 22:6

bird letting goHe just does!  Our Heavenly Father knows all.  He knows our past, present, and future. How can we even begin to think He doesn’t know what’s best for us?

Picture this, you and your dad are hiking in the mountains.  It’s just the two of you walking along a straight path, enjoying this time together with no worries in the world. Then out of the blue, you come across this injured bird that can’t fly. You’re attention is now completely on this flightless creature.  You spend several days taking care of it, nurturing it back to health.  You’ve become really attached to this bird now and it’s going with you everywhere you hike.

One day, all of a sudden it flies out of your hands.  But instead of letting it go, you begin chasing it.  It steers you off the path you were on and you’re running as fast as you can.  You’re so focused on the bird that you don’t realize you’re running straight off a cliff!  As you’re falling, you’re able to catch the bird with one hand and a branch with the other. Your father comes running and is yelling, “let the bird go, he’s ready to fly”.   And you’re yelling back, “But Dad, I’m not ready, what if it doesn’t come back?” You know your father knows best, you know he just wants you out of danger.  Question is, are you willing to trust him?

There are things in our lives that can get us off course.  Things which lead us off the path God has set for us to walk on.  It could be our hobbies, our job, our talents, our dreams, could even be friends or family.  We need guidance, we need direction and we need our Father to be the one to give it to us.

Holy Spirit, what am I holding on to that I need to let go of in my life?  What is steering me off the path You have chosen for me?  Holy Spirit reveal to me anything that is keeping me from pursuing a relationship with Jesus.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.  Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take. – Proverbs 3:5-6

clay-oil-lamp-burning_1154631_inlThis morning I was doing a little self evaluation.  So I began reading the red letters of my Bible, the words Jesus spoke during His time on earth.  He is the only One to whom we should compare ourselves, He is the ultimate role model.  It is only through His righteousness that we can be made whole.  If we have Jesus, which is light, living inside of us, there should be no room for darkness in our lives.

This is where the self evaluation came from.  I know I have Jesus inside my heart, yet, I still think things or say things that I shouldn’t and that He wouldn’t.  So where am I going wrong here?

I read this in Luke 11:35-36 and I just kept thinking about it. Jesus said, “Make sure that the light you think you have is not actually darkness.  If you are filled with light, with no dark corners, then your whole life will be radiant, as though a floodlight were filling you with light.”

So somewhere in me I am not allowing Jesus to fully shine.  There must be things I am allowing into my heart and mind that are not of Him or the only things coming out of me would reflect Jesus.

Lord, I purpose to renew my mind to Your Word and to understand the Righteousness and power that live in me; and as my mind is renewed,  whatever darkness that may be lurking in my mind will be replaced by You, Your word and Your righteousness.   I will not allow the window of my soul to see or seek things that would be like a lamp shade that would cover Your light.  Holy Spirit, please help me to control my thoughts, taking every thought captive to the Word of God and help me to choose my words carefully so that everything I do and say will glorify you.  Holy Spirit reveal any areas in my mind that need to be renewed or where darkness lurks and needs to be exposed.  In Jesus’ name, I pray…AMEN!

Receiving the Light
“No one lights a lamp and then hides it or puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where its light can be seen by all who enter the house. “Your eye is a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is good, your whole body is filled with light. But when it is bad, your body is filled with darkness.” – Luke 11:33-34

wpid-Photo-Aug-13-2013-914-PMDavid didn’t always have it together, he didn’t always do things right but he most certainly had his head on straight and his heart in the right place in Psalms 9 when he sang,I will praise You, Lord, with all my heart;  I will tell of all the marvelous things You have done.  I will be filled with joy because of YOU.  I will sing praises to Your name, O Most High.”.

We give ourselves so much praise and accolades that I believe we completely overlook or fail to remember the fact that God Himself has created EVERYTHING.  He sent Jesus Christ (Himself) to make a way for eternal life AND sent the Holy Spirit to fill us and direct our paths.  He has done all the good FOR us.  “Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.” – James 1:17    Quite frankly, the only thing we can really give ourselves credit for, is screwing up but who wants to own up to that?

When I wake up in the morning and my heart is overwhelmed with joy, I have to know that it comes from the the love of Jesus inside me, that free gift that God gave all of us.  If I think it’s because of something great I did the day before, it’s a false sense of joy that isn’t going to last.  I’m not perfect, but Jesus is and He deserves all praise. And if my joy comes from the praises of family and friends or because of what they did for me, that’s not going to last either.

Father, I pray that I would only give my praises and accolades to the One who deserves them, You!  It’s not about me…never was.  In Jesus’ name, I pray. AMEN
